Company Overview

Welcome to Metropolitan Recycling

Greetings from the Chairman and CEO

We are pleased to introduce the capabilities and experience of Metropolitan Recycling, the largest privately owned and operated recycling facility in New York City and in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. As you will see, Metropolitan is a full service recycling company. While we still recycle 660 tons of mixed paper per day, we also recycle all grades of plastic, metal and glass. In 2007, we recycled 180,000 tons of paper and metal, glass and plastic with only 8% lost to residuals. That’s 165,000 tons of material that were put to beneficial use and diverted from landfills. Our ability to extract high percentages of recyclable material from a client’s waste stream translates into landfill disposal avoidance with the savings passed through to the customer.

You will also see that our company lives and operates in a truly green environment. We do more than talk about resource conservation; we use environmentally friendly alternatives. By mid-2009 Metropolitan will have replaced 40% of its rolling stock with natural gas powered vehicles. We will have installed a photovoltaic solar energy system on the roof of our Corporate Headquarters which will provide 1/3 of our annual electricity demand. This is the first in a series of planned installations that, when complete, will render this system the largest of its kind in the City of New York.

Throughout this website are examples of our client base and of the broad range of services we provide; from regular and on-call pick-up and transportation, to our round-the-clock in-house and emergency repair field maintenance department, designed to ensure disruption-free service to our clientele. Also included are examples of our practice of working with clients to improve their efficiency, reduce their waste and to maximize recyclable commodities from their waste streams.

Please feel free to call if we may provide any further information about our company, our senior management team or our full range of services. Thank you again for this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you and for taking the time to learn more about Metropolitan Recycling.
