US Postal ServiceOur contract to service all 267 Post Office stations and facilities in the Boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens was renewed in June 2008 for a period of 5 years. This $20+ million contract requires Metropolitan to maintain containers or compacters as needed to collect both recycled material as well as general mixed paper waste. These stations in the 4 Boroughs generate 1000 tons per month of recyclable material and mixed paper. Working at a personal level with the managers of each of the 267 stations and facilities, our service representatives give customized attention to the varying needs of the Postal Service – for instance, tailoring carting and compaction needs during the busy holiday season.

Metropolitan has worked with the Postal Service in instituting cost saving measures and efficiencies such as the back-haul process of collecting recyclable material and instituting baling operations at various locations. Metropolitan's investment into additional equipment and in cooperation with the Postal Service has enabled the Postal Service to increase recycling rates and derive a revenue stream for its recyclable material which once was a net cost to the Postal Service.

By working with the Postal Service for the past 6 years, Metropolitan was able to institute a recycling program which has increased the extraction of recyclable material from its waste stream, resulting in an annual savings of one million dollars ($ 1,000,000) to the Postal Service.

MOMAMetropolitan provides fully integrated services to the Museum of Modern Art which include removal of loose dry recyclables, loose dry waste and baled corrugated cardboard. Of paramount importance to MoMA is timely pick-up service – to date we have satisfied this concern. As one of the world's premier modern art museums, occupying more than one million square feet, MoMA is a high profile customer whose Board of Trustees includes Mayor Michael Bloomberg – they are extremely concerned about conducting responsible recycling procedures and in demonstrating their commitment to sustainability.

NY City TransitMetropolitan provides rear load and roll off pick-up services to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority New York City Transit which generates rubbish, recyclables, construction and demolition debris and mixed dry recyclables. The company also provides a menu of specialized services to a variety of Authority locations. Metropolitan is the sole provider of all of the MTA's waste removal and recycling services in New York City.

Metropolitan's senior management is currently engaged in high level discussions with the State of New York, the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, New York City Economic Development Corporation and various elected officials to modify the original recycling laws and regulations to enable private industry to extract higher levels of recyclable materials from waste streams that were previously sent to waste incinerators or landfills. We have communicated in our analysis that millions of plastic containers are needlessly land-filled annually in the State of New York. Consequently, we have been asked by the above parties to provide the "recycler's industry" perspective on how to divert these and other recyclable materials from the landfill.

Metropolitan began its relationship with Macy's by servicing their flagship store at Herald Square. These services included all recyclable materials, recycling machinery maintenance and repair, and MSW compactor service. As a result of our ability to meet and exceed the needs of the world's largest department store, Macy's has awarded Metropolitan a contract to provide these same services for all locations throughout the five boroughs of NYC as well as Westchester County.

Metropolitan provides full waste removal services for Lord & Taylor's flagship store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
